Postpartum Depression
The weeks and months after welcoming a new child into the world can be uncharted territory and a new experience for many. There can be many unexpected challenges, conversations, and emotions that can lead to individuals feeling unworthy and overwhelmed. Research suggests that approximately 10-20% of new mothers will experience postpartum depression, and about 9/10 of pregnant or new mothers experiencing postpartum anxiety.
Seeking out help and support will allow for you to process feelings and thoughts related to birth, finding a parent/work/life balance, continuing to practice self-compassion for yourself, and develop skills in order to cope with feelings of depression and anxiety. These feelings might be scary and new, and you don’t have to go through these challenges alone.
